First World War DCM casualty gallantry group of four medals comprising of GRV Distinguished Conduct Medal, 1914-15 Star, 1914-18 British War Medal and 1914-19 Victory Medal. Named to W.O.II Albert Steel, 10th Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Together with First World War Casualty Memorial plaque named to Albert Steel, and together with related ephemera, letters, New testament of the Bible.
Born 1896 Son of Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Caroline Steel, of East Ardsley, Wakefield, West Didsbury. Manchester. 1911 Census states that his occupation aged 15 as Pit Bottom Pony Driver. Albert enlisted into the 10th Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry on 5th October 1915 with the serial number of 18780
18780 A/CSM A. Steel (Wakefield) Awarded DCM for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When most of his officers were casualties he assisted in consolidating the captured ground under a heavy barrage. Later, he went out on patrol and gained valuable information. His Gallantry was a fine example to all ranks - London Gazette 6th February 1918 page 1772
Albert Steel then transferred to A company 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade(The Prince Consort’s Own) and changed serial numbers to 48212.
27 th May 1918 – German Attack Started. Barrage opened at 1am, and battalion front was heavily gassed and trench mortared at 4am. The Enemy attacked, using tanks. The Battalion suffered very heavy casualties during the preliminary bombardment and attack. The remants retired to the 2 nd Line and thence over the Aisne by Gernicourt and held that village untill forced to withdraw towards Guyencourt.
Casualties estimated at 27 officers and 680 other ranks. With remaining 60 other ranks and 7 officers on the 29 th May. Albert Steel was one of the casualties sustained during the heavy bombardment and German Attack. Killed on the 27/ 28th May 1918 Albert was only 22 years old when he was killed. Buried and commemorated with honours at La Ville-Aux - Bois British Cemetery II.1.14

First World War British Medal group of four medals comprising of 1914-18 British War Medal, 1914-19 Victory medal, Territorial force War Medal and GRV Territorial efficiency medal impressed to 564495 Spr-L/Cpl Percival William Cope Royal Engineers. Together with silver topped walking cane with P.W. Cope First Surrey Rifles 1915 to top, further ephemera and Early War Photographs.
Born on 18 th August 1890, Percival William Cope enlisted with the 21st (County of London) Battalion, The London Regiment (1st Surrey Rifles) Territorial Force on the 17th May 1909, and discharged in consequence of termination of engagement, his total service in the territorial force is 7 years and three days. He then re-enlisted into the London electrical engineers at Lambeth on the 28/10/1916 serving in the London Electrical Engineers in Anti-Aircraft Section. And transferred to the army reserve 6th May 1919. Finaly discharged from service on 31st March 1920 after a further two years and 189 days. With a character reference ‘was of exemplary character, sober, reliable and intelligent. classified as a superior electrician’
Found on the 1921 census with occupation as Electrical Engineer
Died 3/1/1962 in Polegate, Sussex.

Born 1890, Son of Samuel and Edith Crossley, of "Woodlands," Welling, Kent, England. Born at Westcombe Park, London, England. Joined 20 th January 1915
Served at Gallipoli and then posted on the Western Front in France, where he was subsequently killed on 25th July 1916 aged 26 during the Battle of Pozières during the heavy German Artillery Bombardment and is commemorated at VILLERS-BRETONNEUX MEMORIAL, France and was Listed as "Missing" on the Casualty List issued by the War Office from 6th September 1916.

First World War 1914-18 War Medal to Casulty J. 14155 Able Seaman Charles William Julings, Royal Navy, H.M.S. Natal, Died 30th December 1915 and is commemorated at the Chatham Naval Memorial.
Shortly after 15:25pm on the 30 th December 1915 without warning, a series of violent explosions tore through the rear part of HMS Natal. She capsized in a period of five minuets after the explosion. The explosion was caused internally within the ships ammunition magazine, where divers discovered in either the 9.2inch shell room or the three pounder and small arms magazine possibly due to faulty cordite. The Admiralty issued a revised list of the dead and missing that totalled 390 in January 1916, but did not list the women and children on board who were present for a party that day. Losses are listed from 390 to 421
